Nestled between the dynamic landscapes of mountains and the ocean, the Euclid Apartments in Santa Monica embody a design that is pure, organic, and dynamic. This development aims to capture the essence of its coastal mountain setting through architecture that mimics the undulating forms of both sea waves and mountainous terrain. The six interconnected units are crafted with varying roof heights and sculptural interplays that evoke the natural surroundings.

The challenge was to design a residential space that not only respects and responds to the natural beauty of Santa Monica’s unique geographical location but also provides privacy and communal areas for residents. The design needed to integrate the serene qualities of the area while offering modern, vibrant living spaces.

The architectural solution includes a series of rooftop terraces that offer private retreats for each household, reflecting the highs and lows of the nearby landscapes. The façade features organically arranged windows with slightly protruding black sunshades that create a stark contrast to enhance the building's expressiveness and dynamic appeal, introducing a cheerful ambiance. At the entrance, a winding ramp leads up to the homes, evoking a walk through a secret garden, complete with seating areas for picnics in the heart of the complex.
