The 1350 Eastern Ave Development represents a modern approach to community living in Commerce. This residential project features 18 units with a unique configuration of single-family homes fronted by two-story residences and accessory dwelling units (ADUs) at the back. These buildings are ingeniously connected via skybridges, enabling a shared courtyard space beneath. This design not only maximizes living space but fosters community interactions with areas designed for gatherings and family barbecues.
-
One of the main challenges was to design a space that could seamlessly integrate private living with communal areas to enhance social interactions among residents. Additionally, the development needed to stand out in a competitive real estate market with a distinctive style that could appeal to contemporary home buyers.

The development employs an industrial aesthetic to convey a sense of modernity, using a monochrome palette with metal siding to create a strong visual identity. White units feature lightweight steel structures with mesh for sun shading, while the black units boast large windows and recessed balconies, with mesh shading that provides both sun protection and privacy at the ground level. The entrance of each unit is recessed to create an inviting and distinctive entry point, marked by wood accents that add a warm, welcoming touch to the homes.
