HOW CAN HISTORICAL TOWNS LIKE PERRIS BE REVITALIZED WITHOUT LOSING THEIR CHARM?

Location: Perris, California

Program: Multi-Family Residential

Status: Concept Design

  • Perris City Hall revitalization project is set to transform the heart of Perris, connecting its historic charm with modern living. The development aims to inject new life into the old town by integrating residential and commercial spaces in a seamless manner. Positioned strategically near the train station, this development welcomes visitors with a fresh, vibrant face of the city, mirroring the vitality that once thrived in Perris.

  • The challenge was to revitalize an old town without losing its historical essence, ensuring that the new developments enhance the town’s character and attract both residents and visitors. Another challenge was to make the town center a lively hub of activity that extends into the night, supporting a thriving community life.

  • The development utilizes ground-floor commercial spaces to generate foot traffic and create lively public areas where people can enjoy day-to-day activities effortlessly. Above these spaces, residential areas combine white stucco, black iron, and wooden siding to offer a dynamic aesthetic that resonates with Perris's vibrant past and promising future. The project proposal includes two options for the local theater: one to integrate it with the new mixed-use buildings and another to construct a new venue while preserving the old theater’s charm. Both options aim to enhance community engagement with outdoor cafes and public squares for events and gatherings.
